Ingredients (for 4 servings)
  • Beef fillet, about 3 cm thick

    600 g

  • 【Marinade】

  • Salty soy sauce

    50 ml

  • Kadoya roasted sesame oil

    2 tbsp

  • 【Sauce】

  • Sweet soy sauce

    2 tbsp

  • 【To serve】

  • Spring onion, thinly sliced

    1

  • Black sesame seeds

Directions
  • Sear the beef in a hot pan for about 1 minute per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  • In a container large enough to hold the meat, mix the salty soy sauce, Kadoya roasted sesame oil, and grated ginger.

  • Add the beef, coat well with the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour, turning once halfway through.

  • Remove the beef from the marinade.

  • Transfer the marinade to a pan, add the sweet soy sauce, and simmer over medium heat for about 3 minutes until slightly reduced.

  • Slice the beef thinly. If desired, warm it briefly in a hot but turned-off oven.

  • Arrange the beef slices on a serving plate or individual plates, sprinkle with spring onion and black sesame seeds, and drizzle with the sauce.

  • Serve immediately.
