Ingredients (for 4 servings)
  • Boneless, skinless chicken leg, cut into pieces

  • Thumb ginger, peeled & julienned

    3 inch

  • Cloves garlic, smashed

    2

  • Kadoya roasted sesame oil

    3 tablespoons

  • Soy sauce

    2 tablespoons

  • Shaoxing wine / Chinese cooking wine

    1 tablespoon

  • Water

    1/2 cup

  • Sugar

    1/2 teaspoon

  • Ground white pepper

    2 dashes

  • Corn starch slurry

  • Chopped spring onion to garnish

Directions
  • Heat up a skillet over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil.

  • Add ginger to heated oil to cook until slightly crisp around the edges then add garlic to cook until fragrant.

  • Add the chicken and allow to brown a little before adding the soy sauce, cooking wine, ground white pepper, and water. Stir to combine.

  • Cover the skillet with a lid and allow to simmer on low heat for 10 minutes or until the meat becomes tender.

  • Remove lid and allow sauce to reduce a little before thickening it with cornstarch slurry.

  • Garnish with chopped spring onion and serve.
